The library media center is located on the center of the school and is designed to prepare students to become independent, competent users of information and technology, to foster a love of reading, and to support the curriculum. All students are taught specific skills according to their grade level. They learn strategies to locate and evaluate effective print and electronic resources, research techniques, presentation and education software, library citizenship, and responsible/legal use of information. The center is focused on 21st century learning skills so learners can use these skills, resources and tools to:

1) Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge
2 ) Draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge.
3) Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society
4) Pursue personal and aesthetic growth.

Your student has access to the library weekly in class as well as before and after school. Books may be returned and exchanged anytime – they are usually out for a week, but may be extended/renewed.

Students will be allowed to check out the following number of books.
ECE/Kindergarten 1 book
1st Grade 1 book
2nd Grade 2 books
3rd Grade 3 books
4th and 5th grade 4 books

Our print collection can be found online at the LION link above. We have approximately 6,000 carefully chosen books for students and staff and we are ordering more to build the collection.

Databases are online collections of resources put together by experts; they are usually subscription based. The district purchases several for us that can be accessed from school or home. Our database link is at the top of this page and on the lab page.Home access is by using your school ID number/lunch number to log in.

We have a lab of 31 imac Apple computers as part of our center. Students are instructed in a variety of software including word processing, spreadsheets, graphing, drawing, concept mapping, presentation software and educational games.

Volunteers are always welcome in the library! Please sign up in the office for a regular weekly slot to assist in putting books away or helping us checkout ! This allows far more time for teacher and librarian collaboration on technology integration projects. Please leave a message with the main office or stop by !
